Gaddesden Place is regularly used as a background
for TV, film and photography work. One of the
earliest known films using this as a location was
Fanny by Gaslight with James Mason, filmed here in
1944.

Perhaps surprisingly the house is often used as a 10
Downing Street location because of the similarity
between the entrance halls, and between our
drawing room and the cabinet room in Downing
Street. We don’t have a black front door though.

Set in the rolling countryside of the edge of Chiltern
hills north of London, it has views over Gade valley.
